DMEHA at the Iowa State Fair

DMEHA at the Iowa State Fair

Look for the Des Moines European Heritage Association at Global Citizenship Day at the Iowa State Fair on Friday, August 12 (today) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Global Citizenship Day recognizes multicultural organizations in Iowa—and brings educational demonstrations, performances, activities and more to the Iowa State Fair. You can find us in the 4-H Exhibits Building. We’ll be ready to help the children craft paper ornaments (adults are more than welcome too) and to chat about our upcoming signature event—Christkindlmarket Des Moines! It’s Des Moines’ first European-style Christmas market, complete with traditional wooden vendor stalls, German foods, warm mulled wine, and handcrafted gifts to buy.

We hope to see you at the fair!

Des Moines European Heritage Association connects Iowans with European traditions, language education and cultural experiences; and it provides resources and tools to other cultural heritage organizations.

Hello, my name is Rebecca Banger and I am a second year student at Drake University. I am currently studying Advertising and Public Relations with emphasis in design. I will be a graduate of Drake’s class of 2018 and hope to work in PR in Des Moines. I am from Farmington, Missouri and am actively involved on my campus and around Des Moines as well. I decided to get involved with the Des Moines European Heritage Association and Christkindlmarket Des Moines planning as I am very interested in the culture of Des Moines and the European influence on the city of Des Moines. It is my dream to experience as much culture as I can and everything the world has to offer. I plan on accomplishing this goal by learning about European culture and hopefully traveling in the future.
